All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really are moist and simmer for times, but they are unmistakably banana-y.

Banana may be one of those flavors that could get lost when you bake with this. It can be really subtle flavor. It always bums me out once that happens, because I really like the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

So when great brewed banana treats come together, we move a little mad for them.

These cookies make the list of banana items to go mad for. Without a doubt.

And they are so moist, they melt in your mouth. Plus, with both banana and oats inside them, they're basically healthy, right? And perfect for breakfast!

Creating them is just as easy as eating them.

You begin with mixing all those lovely components together.

I must warn you. The smell of the mixture -- with the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen making the dough together with me (we left a bargain that included him with me) and we both had to work hard to not put our faces, or even a straw, straight into it.

You then add all of the ingredients (which usually means you simply use one bowl -- yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake them, spoon about a tablespoon of bread and create a thick disk, as opposed to a ball. They spread somewhat when baking, so don't place them too close together. Bake them for approximately 10-12 minutes to get a nice, moist cookiecutter. So yummy!

1 additional thing I really like about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandma (my dad's mom) passed away in 2008. Once I started baking a lot a few years ago, my uncle gave me her cookbook he'd had and didn't use. I have had it in my list to produce a number of her desserts ever since.

It was a custom for my grandmother to make them each Christmas! She gave everyone a big tin of them, which had been really an effort with 6 sons.

I now know precisely how much of an effort it had been! My goodness. She left them with a conventional gaufrette iron which goes over an open flame. My dad and I had them in the stove. They cook very fast and you need to be exact. Too little time and they sort of disintegrated to iron. As long and they burnt to the iron and we all needed to scrub it out.

My dad was minding the batter and taking away the biscuits, I had been operating the iron, the hubs was time things. It took a number of tries to get it right, but they had been so great! I've attempted to make them on my own and it never works. I'd love to share the recipe, however, the dang irons are so hard to discover. And expensive. Sooner or later, I'd love to just earn a cookie with the identical gaufrette flavor.

For now though, I am sharing these cookies. I don't believe I ever had them made thembut they are from her novel.

It's such a fun recipe book to check through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, clippings and paper recipes that were taped into the publication. I like the way they used to compose recipes in the paper -- they'd the person who submitted it's name and cute little stories. It is so fun to read ! What another time in the world!

Anyways, I do not know where this recipe originated out. The paper looks like it was on a flier out of their square dance class or something (they have been big to square dance ). It is definitely from West Virginia, in which they lived.



In any event, I am so happy to finally share a recipe out of her book with you! I made a couple of changes to make them thicker and puffier and they're delicious. There will be more to come from her recipe book, but for now enjoy the banana.

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup salted butter, softened (I use scatter Butter)

1 cup brown sugarpacked

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract



1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch

3 cups old fashioned oats

DIRECTIONS:

2. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves and cornstarch and mix until blended.

3. Stir in yogurt.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Flatten dough just a little bit, into thick disks. They'll disperse a little when baked.

6. Bake for look at this website 10-12 minutes or until edges just start to golden.

7. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes, then proceed into cooling rack to complete cooling.
